Start The Day Off In Gratitude

As I woke up this morning and start thinking, my mind couldn’t help but wander into all the things that I have to do during the day, and all of the things that aren’t quite right, including all the things that may hinder me from doing what I need to do.   On one hand, its great to think the tasks one must complete throughout the day in order to mentally prepare.  On the other, I think its of more importance to gain a little piece of mind first thing in the morning.  To be thankful for even waking up that day.

Something I heard throughout my life is that the way you start things is the way you will continue to do them, and eventually end them.  So if I  start my day off with negative thoughts and energy, I can’t help but imagine that I’m going to have a pretty negative day.  I have actually experienced this first hand.  My negative thoughts became reality.  I don’t know abut you, but I really don’t care to live in negativity.  It’s draining!

As I was sitting in the bed reflecting, I decided right then that I would begin to start my days off in gratitude.  That way I’ll have a good foundation to go throughout the day.  I have been toying with the idea of doing a gratitude journal at night, just before bed, but just hadn’t gotten around to it.  I tried it before during the summer of 2008, but it just didn’t have the impact I was looking for, so I stopped.  Maybe I stopped before my breakthrough, I’m not sure.  At any rate, I do see a big benefit in STARTING the day off in gratitude.  There are so many things to be thankful for! There is no reason the day should begin in the negativity.

I’m going to work on this for the next 30 days and see how my life improves.  To all who love me and support me, thank you! It really means a lot to me.

  1. One of the best entries yet. I read information on a constant basis online, books, rss feeds, and so on…I enjoyed this one. I hope you keep this blog up because I saw that movie Julia…I feel like this could be your version on that movie…

  2. Keep it up. I am adding a gratitude journal to my routine after my morning workouts. Thanks!
